Butterfly Prisms Foundation Paper Piecing with Lorelai Kuecker - August
Foundation Paper Piecing nearly guarantees accuracy in stitching, but many continue to fear the
technique. Join me, Lorelai, as I walk you through this surprisingly simple, yet powerful, skill! In
this class, we will learn how to paper piece using my original pattern, Butterfly Prisms. I will
guide you through creating the two paper pieced units that are used throughout the entire quilt,
and show you how to use these units to make the Butterfly Blocks!
By the time you leave this class, you will have created a minimum of 2 blocks, using eight units,
to finish the quilt. If you move more quickly, you may create more blocks in the class time. You
will likely not have time to complete the entire quilt top.

| Instructor Bio: | Lorelai Kuecker is a fifteen-year-old quilter who began her sewing journey at the age of five. It wasn’t until she was twelve that her obsession with longarm quilting began and her business, Pigs in a Blanket Quilting, was born. Lorelai has had her piecing and longarm work displayed at numerous shows, including the American Quilters Society Quilt Show, QuiltCon, and the Houston International Quilt Festival. While she has created several show quilts, she is most known for her unique quilted garments that stretch the boundaries of quilting. Lorelai aims to continue on this patchwork path to inspire other youth quilters along the way! |
